After returning from a 390-day injury layoff, Kevin Strootman has retaken the pitch with enthusiasm and hunger.

Now back with the national team, Strootman will be fighting to reclaim the field for his club and country. While attending the Dutch International Volleyball Tournament, the Oranje captain gave an interview on his progress:

I’ve passed those ugly moments, and above all, my last surgery. I hade done everything I could have to return to good health, but I was only able to get back to 20%. In some moments I thought that maybe I wouldn’t be able to get back to my level, but then I started to play some games with the Primavera, but then I made a turn to a better page. Now the knee is perfectly OK, I don’t fear of hurting it again. I’m looking to do all my exercises to the maximum, although I’ll stay aware of the risks that I’ll be confronting.

Coach Luciano Spalletti will be looking for Strootman to become a major player in next year’s push for Scudetto glory. #DajeKevin
